Ten dollars won’t buy you a movie ticket these days, but it will feed a family of four thanks to this clever recipe.
Ingredients
- 12 (about 1kg) chicken wings
- 60ml (1/4 cup) honey
- 60ml (1/4 cup) hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon finely grated fresh ginger
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 300g (1 1/2 cups) jasmine rice
- 1 bunch gai lan (Chinese broccoli), trimmed, cut into 5cm lengths
- 1 bunch baby pak choy, ends trimmed, quartered
Method
- Step 1Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a baking dish with non-stick baking paper. Combine chicken, honey, hoisin sauce and ginger in a large bowl. Toss to coat. Place the chicken, in a single layer, on prepared tray. Bake for 35 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Step 2Meanwhile, bring a large saucepan of water to the boil over high heat. Stir in the rice. Return to the boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender. Drain.
- Step 3Cook the gai lan and pak choy in a large saucepan of boiling water for 3 minutes or until bright green and tender crisp. Drain.
- Step 4Divide the chicken, rice, gai lan and pak choy among serving plates. Drizzle over the juices from the baking dish.
